RTF & NEW THREADS’ NEW WORKS SHORT PLAY CONTEST AND FESTIVAL
The Redlands Theatre Festival and New Threads Theatre Company are proud to announce their second annual New Works Short Play Festival. These two powerhouse Inland Empire-based theatre companies are going to be producing a new works short play contest and festival. We are seeking new short ten-minute plays.
The winning scripts will receive a staged reading as part of the Redlands Theatre Festival’s summer season in July 2024.
Deadline: Monday February 19th by 5:00pm (Pacific Time)
Winners will be announced on Monday March 11th.
Winners are encouraged to attend the New Works Short Play Festival; four complimentary tickets will be given to each of the winners.
Note: If festival winners decide to attend the festival but are not local, they will be required to pay for their own hotel, travel, and misc. expenses.
COMPETITION GUIDELINES:
1. All Ten-minute plays should not exceed 12 pages in length.
2. Scripts must be a character-driven, non-musical piece, with a simple/minimalist set and technical requirements.
3. The scripts that will be chosen for the festival will be given a public developmental Staged Reading and therefore scripts must be original and cannot have been professionally produced.
4. Scripts must be written in Standard Submission Format.
5. Scripts must include a character list and a one-paragraph synopsis.
6. Scripts must be submitted in a PDF file format. Only electronic submissions will be accepted.
7. There is NO submission fee.
8. Please make sure that your script is in keeping with the New Threads Theatre Company mission statement which is:
New Threads Theatre Company exists to tell provocative and entertaining stories, and create innovative theatrical events, that start truly inclusive conversations that build community.
